As previous mentioned, our Executive Director’s recent trip to Uganda was a very productive one. It seems our work and achievement of key milestones has caught the attention of the local press in Uganda. The Observer, a Ugandan news website, published an article last month by Wilber Muhwezi, focusing on the needs of pregnant women in the Ntungamo district.
As stated in the article, only 30% of women in that corner of rural Uganda deliver in health centres. The great majority deliver in their homes, assisted by traditional birth attendants and other women who lack health service delivery expertise.
The article also highlights our work in addressing this key issue, particularly our work to involve men in issues of safe motherhood.
